Spain 2

Madrid, Spain 21 Santo Angel Street June 1965 -June 1966

During the time we spent on Santo Angel Street, I had the most incredible adventures. It honestly feels as if I had spent more time there, but it was just one year. Sometimes after church, which was all in Latin, we would head to a bullfight. We kids never really watched, we spent most of our time exploring under the bleachers. We found money and all sorts of other odd treasures. We also went to the movies whenever a Disney film came out. They were always in Spanish, with English subtitles. On weekends and in the summer, we were free to roam the neighborhood. We went to farms, olive fields, graveyards, abandoned homes, the town square, anywhere our little legs took us. If we got out of line, there were plenty of adults willing to straighten us out. This was perfectly acceptable to us because it was never more than an ear pulling with a bit of yelling. We never told our parents because that would be double trouble, and always worse…a loss of allowance or being grounded. Stay tuned…I plan to share many great adventure stories from this incredible city.
